Diagnosis

I know that I have said that I have been dealing with some issues with Brad and thinking about what to do about them.  Well, thanks to the help of a wonderful friend, we were able to start behavioral therapy for him.  We also had an appointment this past week with a child psychologist.  The doctor diagnosed Brad with ADHD (what child doesn't have this these days?!?!), anxiety disorder and Oppositional Defiance Disorder.  None of this came as any big shocker to me.  The thing that I did like about this doctor is that he wasn't quick to put Brad on meds.  He gave us all the information to take home and read and to think about it.  When we meet again with the doctor in four months we will discuss and have our decision then.  I also liked the fact that he only prescribes non-addictive meds for kiddos.  Another HUGE plus is the doctor will not put Brad on meds for the ADHD because of his heart condition.  The meds will totally screw up his heart.  So, for now we continue with weekly therapy (that totally seems to be working) and now I have to work with the school on getting a 504 plan!  That aught to prove to be the most difficult part of this whole thing!
