New Pet

When I went to Gramona and Pop's to pick up Brad after work today, I was greeted by Brad's new pet. Gramona bought him a betta fish. Brad named him Blue. Real original, seeing as the fish is mostly blue with a bit of red on the fin! As soon as we got home, Brad made a spot to put Blue in his room. Then he wanted to feed him right away! I tried to explain to him that you can only feed the fish twice a day and that you can't overfeed it or it will die. I am not sure if he understood. It will be interesting to see how long Blue stays with our family!

Weekend at Camp

We are home from our weekend at camp. All that Brad wanted to do all weekend was fish. He would get anyone he could find to go down to the lake with him so that he could fish. At one point, he was fishing with Pop and Uncle Dave and a boat came by. Brad yells out "Hey Dudes, watch out for those bobbers"! It was too funny! Brad did catch a couple of fish on the shore. After dinner on Sunday, Pop and Uncle Dave took Brad out in the boat. I wasn't too sure how long he would last, or how long Uncle Dave would be able to put up with Brad. In the end, I guess it was a success because they were gone for an hour or so. But, they didn't come home with any fish!

Fishing wasn't the only thing on Brad's agenda for the weekend. He also did a lot of riding on the wheelers. Every time Pop would take him out on the 3 wheeler, Gramona and Pop's dog, Daisy, would chase after them and try to bite the tires! Brad thought that this was so funny! Brad even convinced Uncle Dave to take him for a 4 wheeler ride. And once again, Daisy followed them everywhere they went! Not to be left out, Brad rode his own 4 wheeler around and chased Daisy!

All in all, the weekend was good. We had a rough start but we got through it. I had a bridal shower to attend on Saturday afternoon, so I rode up with my mother and Brian and Brad went up earlier in the day. On the way, Brian got a speeding ticket! Let's just say, that it is going to be awhile before Brian lives that one down!!

Packing the family

Why is it that when a family plans a trip anywhere, the Moms are the ones that do all the packing and worrying that everything is packed? Sometimes I wish I could be more like the men of the world, who know that their wives will take care of everything and all they have to do is get in the car and drive to the destination.
So here I am, taking a small break from packing up my family for a weekend at camp. As much as I love going to camp, I dread it every time. Not only do I have to pack for myself, I have to get all of Brad's things together and then I have to figure out what to pack for Brian. Then I always get told that I have packed too much! Sometimes, you just can't win!
I like to think that once we are at camp, deep down my family is grateful that I took care of all their needs for the weekend. I know that I will never hear the words, but it is good to think that at the very least, they are thinking it!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!! I woke up this morning to the smiling face of Bradley with his Mother's Day card for me. After I opened it up, he gave me a wonderful flower vase that he made in school. Brad also made me another card at school with his recipe for Mom's Grilled Cheese. The ingredients are: Bread, dough and cheese. He says "She cooks it in a pot on the grill inside, in my house. I think it tastes like grilled cheese!" Homemade gifts are the best! They are made from the heart. Brad and Daddy then made me french toast for breakfast. Then the family all went up to Uncle Dave's house for a Mother's Day cookout. It was a bit chilly out, but we all still had a great time with awesome food. It has been a wonderful Mother's Day.
